Manchester– GoPlugable is excited to announce the launch of its community-driven EV charger-sharing pilot in Northwest UK, following a successful trial in Ireland. This initiative aims to make home EV charging more accessible, reliable, and affordable, especially for those without private chargers.

Enhancing EV Charging Accessibility

The pilot offers EV drivers the ability to book charging slots at local homes or businesses, providing a convenient alternative to public chargers. Despite the growth of public charging stations in the UK, regional disparities remain. Plugable seeks to bridge this gap by unlocking access to the estimated 700,000 private charge points across the country.

Partnership and Innovation

Maebh Reynolds, Founder and CEO of GoPlugable, emphasized the mission:

"Plugable aims to provide access to the UK's largest EV charging network by 2025, making charging accessible for everyone, everywhere. Our peer-to-peer network allows hosts to maximize the utilization of their home chargers, earning passive income while supporting the wider EV community."

Through the Plugable app, users can find and book nearby EV chargers, enjoying lower rates compared to public options. Hosts can set their own prices and availability, earning income from their idle chargers. Both chargees and hosts participating in the trial will receive a £25 bonus credit.

Joining the Plugable Community

Residents in Manchester, Liverpool, Warrington, Wigan, and Bolton are invited to join the trial by downloading the free Plugable app and following the instructions. Participants will provide feedback to help improve the GoPlugable community.

Expanding the Network

GoPlugable plans to expand its charging marketplace nationwide, including partnerships with businesses such as gyms and hotels to offer destination EV chargers. This expansion aims to democratize access to EV charging further.
